Registration opens at 9:00 a.m., starting things off in the National Home Builders Association (NHBA) Atrium, where WP Advocates will have time to network and meet other small-business owners, as well as check out big supporters of small business at the sponsor tables.

Regulatory Roundtable - PENDING* | 10:00-11:30 a.m., NAHB
Not like other roundtables, this prospective event will feature experts from the SBA Office of Advocacy, where leaders will seek input on the biggest regulatory hurdles facing small business, as well as provide an update on the latest regulatory changes happening now and in a look ahead.

Washington Presentation’s official kick-off is the Lew Shattuck Small Business Advocate of the Year Award luncheon, where WP Advocates will hear from speakers and recognize the nation’s best-and-brightest small-business leaders.
Depart for White House Briefing | 1:00 p.m., NAHB Atrium
WP Advocates will be directed to buses to travel to the White House.

Yes, you read that right – Thursday starts at 6:30 a.m. sharp, when WP Advocates will meet in the Darcy Hotel Lobby to board buses to depart to Capitol Hill. If checking out from the Darcy on Thursday, be sure to check your luggage with the desk prior to meeting for the buses. Accounting for distances between Hill meetings and across the Capitol complex, please be prepared for significant walking with appropriate, comfortable shoes. Average counts often exceed 10,000 steps on Hill days.
Congressional Breakfast | 7:30-9:30 a.m., Reserve Officers Association Building
During our annual Congressional Breakfast, WP Advocates will hear from leading Members of Congress on what small-business legislation is moving in Congress, and what is likely ahead. This is our last official meeting together at the Washington Presentation and where we will formally close the event before you take to Capitol Hill. NSBA does NOT provide transportation back to the Darcy hotel after the breakfast or at any time during the day. Please plan to utilize taxis or rideshare services.

The Lew Shattuck Small Business Advocate of the Year Award recognizes small-business owners who go above and beyond in advocating for the small-business community. Finalists and winners are announced at NSBA’s annual Washington Presentation in Washington, D.C.
The following shape the criteria of our Rising Stars and Advocates of each Year:

This week, NSBA announced the finalists for the 2025 Lewis Shattuck Small Business Advocate of the Year Award. The award winner will be announced during NSBA’s Annual Advocate of the Year Award Luncheon on Wednesday, Sept. 10, which is the kick-off event for the NSBA Washington Presentation on Sept. 10-11.
