NSBA Supports Congressional Passage of Debt Ceiling Legislation
WASHINGTON, D.C. – NSBA commends Congressional leadership for swift passage of the Fiscal Responsibility Act (H.R.3746). The result of a hard-won, bipartisan compromise, this bill raises the federal debt ceiling and implements a number of commonsense spending reforms to ensure the country’s financial obligations are met.
Closely monitoring the threat of default and what it would mean for the nation’s small-business community, NSBA President and CEO Todd McCracken shared the following statement on the Senate’s passage Thursday evening:
“Today, thanks to the work of bipartisan negotiators, we have averted financial catastrophe. This vote gives America’s millions of small businesses the confidence they need to continue operating and reassures small-business owners fulfilling government contracts that the United States remains a reliable business partner. NSBA will continue to support Congress and the White House in pursuit of realistic policies that create and support opportunities for small business to grow and drive the economy.”
Founded in 1937, The National Small Business Association (NSBA) is the nation’s first small-business advocacy organization. With a network of 65,000+ members in every state and every industry across the country – including numerous state affiliates – NSBA operates on a bipartisan basis to represent the interests of all American small businesses.
