NSBA Supports Senate Confirmation of SBA Deputy Administrator
WASHINGTON, D.C. – NSBA commends Chairman Cardin (D-M.D.) and the Committee on Entrepreneurship, as well as the entire Senate, for confirming Dilawar Syed to serve as Deputy Administrator of the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). Ultimately passed by unanimous consent, Syed’s confirmation is a positive step in fully staffing the SBA and maximizing its potential of serving the nation’s small-business community.
Leading the charge of pursuing its member-ratified Priority Issues for this session of Congress, including ensuring the SBA is fully staffed and functional, NSBA President and CEO Todd McCracken shared the following statement on the Senate’s passage:
“NSBA applauds the Senate’s confirmation of Dilawar Syed as Deputy Administrator of the Small Business Administration. After a long delay, small-business owners can rest assured the Senate and federal government recognize the need for fully confirmed leadership atop the SBA – a critical agency for the nation small-business owners. NSBA looks forward to working with Mr. Syed to advance the interests of the millions of small businesses, employing an estimate 60+ million Americans. NSBA also eagerly anticipates the nomination and confirmation of (other roles), and the appointment of (other roles).”
Mr. Syed’s confirmation was supported by a number of advocacy groups, including the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, U.S. Black Chambers, National Asian/Pacific Islander American Chamber of Commerce & Entrepreneurship, Small Business Roundtable, Small Business Majority, and more than 150 civic, government, higher education and business leaders and organizations.
