On July 3, the House of Representatives passed H.R. 1, the One, Big, Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA), by a vote of 218-214. The next day, President Trump signed the bill into law during a White House Independence Day signing ceremony, bringing an end to deliberations and negotiations dominating attention of lawmakers and stakeholders since the beginning of the 119th Congress.

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) secured support for the bill in the Lower Chamber following its 51-50 passage out of the Senate on July 1, successfully convincing remaining Representative holdouts to lend support to the final text. Two House Republicans and all Democrats opposed the bill's passage.

Focus will now turn to the Department of Treasury and other relevant federal agencies as they work to issue corresponding regulations concerning implementation of the bill's various provisions.

Follow NSBA as we continue tracking advancements and progress of the bill's effects across the administration and nation.
