Owner of ASCI Services, based in Anchorage, NSBA's Leadership Council Member Christine Hopkins is SBA's Small Business Owner of the Year for Alaska.

Often shaken, but never deterred, Christine Hopkins' journey in Small-Business ownership can be summed in one word: resilience.

Coming in at a close second is 'persevered,' which is how Christine continues to serve the Small-Business community through her involvement in the Alaska Women's Chamber and NSBA's Leadership council, all while running a full plate at the reins of her oil and gas, supply chain, and federal contract services company ASCI.

A picture of American achievement, Christine is also a Military wife and daughter, committed to supporting employment for spouses moving across the country through their family's service deployment.

And if this weren't enough, Christine is the Small Business Administration (SBA) Small Business Owner of the Year for the State of Alaska.

Bearish to some, Christine is not afraid to grab any bull by its horns to lead and empower her entire team. Growing success for the federal and commercial jobs her Small-Business supports every day, if it involves shipping, storing, driving, or managing work, ASCI prides itself on delivering quality services at the highest level of performance - with Christine providing a personal touch for each one of her contracts and clients.

This week, during National Small Business Week, Christine and her husband Ken traveled to Washington, to receive her award and recognition from the SBA for her achievements with ASCI.

Balancing her work team with her husband and son at home, NSBA is honored to have Christine as part of our advocacy family, and we are looking forward to continuing to grow our influence for more productive Small-Business policy for her business and the 70 million we are fortunate to represent as America's first and only nonpartisan Small-Business advocate.

Ahead of her D.C. visit, NSBA caught up with Christine to discuss her success and the winding path its proven to be. Join us for our inaugural Small Business Conversation below, and check back soon as the celebrations continue with a feature from NSBA's second SBA winner and Veteran honoree, Jeff Anderson, owner of ATEK Distribution!:
