NEWS | NSBA Applauds House Passage of Small Business Bills

NSBA commends Congress for its commitments to ensuring strong small-business support in legislative agenda.

JUNE 24, 2026 | This week, the U.S. House of Representative passed seven bipartisan bills that cleared the Small Business Committee earlier this year, including the Small Business Cybersecurity Assistance Evaluation Act (H.R. 8880), directing the GAO to study federal cyber assistance to small businesses, and the Main Street Competes Act (H.R. 8882), requiring the SBA Office of Advocacy to report on how antitrust enforcement affects small business competitiveness.

Other bills target oversight of SBA's disaster loan program, codify an SBA Office of Native American Affairs, and require annual SBA reporting on its AI use.

The House also took up the Small Business Technological Act (H.R. 915), which would let the SBA extend 7(a) loans for software, cloud computing, AI tools, and other operational technology, though Chairman Williams postponed the vote due to the lack of a quorum.

The bills will now need to garner support in the Senate in order to become law.
