NSBA urges Congress to advance all efforts that would permanently repeal the Corporate Transparency Act for American Small Business.

JUNE 29, 2026 | This week, House lawmakers are considering whether to include language in the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) that would permanently eliminate Beneficial Ownership Information (BOI) reporting requirements for domestic companies. Because the NDAA is one of Congress's annual must-pass bills, policy provisions attached to it often receive heightened attention as lawmakers work to finalize the legislation before the end of the year.

If the amendment is adopted by the House, it would still need to survive negotiations with the Senate before being included in the final version of the NDAA sent to the President. The proposal represents the latest congressional effort to revisit the Corporate Transparency Act's reporting requirements following ongoing implementation challenges and legal uncertainty surrounding BOI reporting.

Urge your lawmakers to support the inclusion of this amendment in the final version of the NDAA, securing a permanent BOI exemption for small businesses across the country.
